BNattery Draining Were To Start
My 1976 vette if it sits over 24 hours will not start unless I jump it. The battery looks new. Where do I start on finding the drain if that is what it is?
When I jump start it, it starts right up. I know the battery cables are tight and no corrosion. I have only had car for 3 weeks so I am learning as I go here. Their is no wire running to the key alarm and I do not lock the doors as it sits in the garage when not driving Thanks for your help

Re: BNattery Draining Were To Start (cell2each)
Most likely it's your courtesy light not turning off when you shut the door. Common problem.
But if that's not it, you need to hook an ammeter in series with your battery cable, and start pulling the fuses one at a time. When the amp draw drops, there's your parasitic drain (you'll need an electrical schematic to see what's in the circuit protected by that fuse, and track down what component is causing the drain).
Good luck.

1) Take the battery cable off over night just to make sure it isnt the battery. 2) Remove the leads from the alternator, to make sure it isnt the alternator.
They are your first two steps. Many times you will find bad diodes in the alternator.

I had the same problem with my '76. Found it was the light in the center storage compartment not turning off. You can check this by opening the right (jack storage compartment) and looking for any light coming from the center compartment.
