Fan Clutch Eliminator?
Anyone ever use the fan clutch eliminator that CC sells? Any opinions on it. Son't really want to pay $200 for a new fan clutch.

Re: Fan Clutch Eliminator? (rebuild)
Hi ...
The one for sales at CC is for small block bolt patern (water pump) and small fan hole.
It will NOT work on a BB ...
I had a machine shop mill me a spacer (just like CC) from aluminum for my BB .
Works great - just makes a real whine at RPM. You will see a big drop in temp. but also a drop in performance. Negligable but not bad ...

Re: Fan Clutch Eliminator? (rebuild)
I must ask this question then ...
Why are you wanting to remove the clutch fan ???
Is it a cooling issue ?
or
Do you just need a new one for your car ??
If cooling problem ......
There are a bunch of things to check
1. shroud seals
2. radiator cap
3. lower hose
4. water pump
5. hood seal
6. junk between radiator and condensor
7. clutch fan - should turn once after ignition is shut off
If you just need a new clutch fan - you can HD clutch from AutoZone (if you are not worried about GM originality) for about 89.00
Good luck .

Put in a set of Spal electric's Tom DeWitt sells a nice package of dual 11" fans that fit either BB or SB radiators, they keep you cool and save you a few horses too. Tom is a supporting vendor of the forum, check it out at http://www.dewitts.com/pages/product...asp?ProdID=251
Spal's are expensive, but very, very good pieces of equipment, used on many High dollar European cars. Quite a few people on the forum have them and are very pleased with them.
