Here's an odd question I haven't seen on this forum!
My niece is a National Honor Society Sweetheart at her high school. This weekend is their Homecoming celebration. She has asked if I can bring my C3 coupe for the drive her around football field track. There is a procession of "sweethearts" in cars around the track. I would drive the car (slowly) around the track and she and her male counterpart would essentially stand in the passenger seat while seated on the roof crossover. I didn't want to commit to her until I asked people who would know (the Forum) how much weight the roof will support. I'm afraid of stress cracks and too much down force on the T-bar might crack the front windshield. I'm guessing she and her male escort would weigh 250 pound max. Perhaps she can sit on the roof and the “bozo” can sit in the seat. My fear - I can just see big stress cracks where the T-bar molds into the rear deck! What do you guys think?

This is usually done with verts. My boss asked me to do this for his daughter last week. He thought I had a vert. When I told him I had a coupe, he said never mind.

Rick,
I am no expert on it, but I would think as long as they are standing in the seat and leaning against the t-bar, that wouldnt' be a problem. If they actually have to sit on top of the t-bar/roof, then I wouldn't do that.
I'm still surprised you have that car. For what you're asking its a solid deal.

Might just take the seat out for the night so they are standing on the floor board. I drove my sister for her homecoming in my vert.

Back when I was in High School, I observed Homecomings where the Queen and her court (all females) each rode in a vette around the track; they would stand on the passenger seat and lean against the t-top-roof (or in verts, sit on the body that is right behind the passenger seat). Although, no male escorts were allowed. I'd say NO to letting the pair sit on the t-top support. If they decide to let just the females ride, I'd also recommend they leave those high/stilletto heals off as they could damage leather seats!

Rick, there is no question that has not been asked on this forum!! (at least once!!)

I would say "yes" to your niece, but "no" to Bozo!! Our vettes are 2 passenger cars anyway. Don't get me started on the insurance implications of carrying somebody in a parade.... just take the girl only and have fun! :) MJ
Rick... you said "I'm guessing she and her male escort would weigh 250 pound max." how does that break down??? Does she only weight 90 lbs or is he a really small guy? I'm thinking 125 for her, 215 for him..... 25 lbs of clothes and shoes... you got 375lbs on there!! MJ

Haha, funny stuff, but yeah, they definitely won't be putting heels in my leather seat, no matter how hot she is!!

Back when I was in High School - in the back seat of my Camaro, the Homecoming Queen was sitting on ME.

Our club host high school homecoming queens like your niece's. I've carried them on my C5 but never on the C3. I'd be a little worried, maybe paranoid is a better word, that something would happen to it. The homecoming events are fun!
