'80 Choke relay substitute available????
A relay near the shifter was draining my battery, so I disconnected it. My battery doesn't get drained, but now my choke stays closed and choke light stays on. Repair manual shows I removed the choke relay.
I can't find one at any Corvette parts store. I posted a "Wanted" message in the C3 Parts forum, but I'm also willing to replace it with a different relay...anything that works.
Got any suggestions?
Dave

It's possible that your choke relay is OK. That circuit is kind of wierd as it is tied into the alternator circuit.
I was having a similar problem a while back and it turned out to be a bad alternator stator. The stator was grounding itself out ever so slightly. This caused a battery drain, made my choke light stay on and made the relay chatter.
Also, check to see if the wire supplying 12 volts is securely fastened to the electric choke coil.
Be sure to let us know what the outcome is.
