Default hood paint

My 71 hood has no paint on the unside. I would like to use the proper paint and to it right. I am planning on using spray can. What is the proper paint and procedure? Any other tips is appreciated. Thanks Ed

I'm not 100% sure what it should be, but both my 68 and 73 are semi-gloss black and they look good. Craig

I asked the same question the other day and got several answers, the one I think is probably closest to the original was John Deere Blitz Black. The NCRS guys swear that it is closest to the original blaclout paint used on our cars.
I was also told to remember to paint the underside first couple of inches around the edges about to where the hood weatherstriping is. The body color paint should be duller than the stuff on the top of the hood, since it wasn't buffed out like the original lacquer was.
