Its in the headlight mechinism. The wires lead from the low beam headlight to this switch. The one on the other side is broken and the wires are just hanging there. what would be the symptoms of the broken switch on the other side? Everything seems to be working ok without this switch functioning.

Those run to an indicator lamp on your dash that tell you when the headlights are up.

Headlight door opening switch. It lights a dash light while the headlights are opening.

When the headlights are fully open the light goes out.

These switches break often. About $25 in most catalogs.

If the switch is broken and the end is still in the plug, your dash light will stay on whenever the lights are on. If the end is removed from the plug, no dash light at all.

Sounds like you have one working and the other removed. This will just show you that one headlight is up and locked.

Thanks trw that does help. I do notice as the lights are going up the dash light is on. When the right one(switch still working) reaches its fully open position, the dash light goes out. I'll just leave it as is. Cant see spending $25 for a switch for such a silly function thats not really needed.
