All comments are from John in the e-mail he sent to me with the pics.
Here are the pics, click on them for a larger image:

The pic of the NOS bottle shows the MSD 6al and the window switch for the NOS control. I can pick what rpm the NOS comes on and shuts off at.

This photo shows the NOS activation on the front of the shifter, the line lock on the back, the bottle heater activation is on the right of the parking brake lever and the dedicated NOS fuel pump is on the left. The dial is the adjustable timing control, so I can pull timing out of the motor when I engage the NOS:

Beautiful engine John. :yesnod: Nice setup. Is that a custom air cleaner made to mate to your hood?

I made the air cleaner so it would provided enough air for the motor, it is close to 225 square inches. If you look the bottom base is 3/4 of an inch wider than the top. When the hood is done it will be a sealed system, sorta like a scaled up L-88.

I was trying to find a "standing ovation" smiley John. That's one georgeous Vette you have there.

This will have to suffice.

Beautiful engine and all detail John but I bet it gets very busy in the fowl pit when launching. There would be no time to pull timing out of the motor. I had a autamitic retart system from MSD when I ran NOS.

Good point Norval, I am going to a two stage system soon (adding a plate) I will run the automatic system (three stage retard) that pulls timing out when the seliniods are acivated. With the dial I pull the timing out before I run the car. I only pull 2-6 degrees out so it does not hurt the performance that much in first gear.

What a great looking engine compartment!

I have the exact same MSD remote timing control and an MSD D6 to install with my new engine this winter. Has your stuff been reliable? That's always my biggest worry with aftermarket ignition parts, lots of spaghetti to tie together.

The car makes 491-495 rwhp (dyno'd) on the motor and 625-630 on the current NOS tune (both through full exhaust)

I have upgraded the rear end with forged stub axles, solid u joints, Tom's locater kit, and welded frame conectors I recently agreed to purchase a full drag racing 12 bolt spooled rear end from a forum member. It has truck 1480 u-joints, 12 bolt spool, 3 1/2 in. half shafts, 35 spline axels, etc.

After a few more pennies are saved I will purchase a Jeffco 4 spd and add a second NOS system. Should be able to make 800 rwhp with open headers. The goal is to put the car in the 9.50's at over 145 mph.

I have also started putting the car on a major diet, looking to put it 3000 pound race weight.

I have not run slicks yet, but will when the new tranny and rear end is in.

Now THAT is a serious looking engine compartment!

With all the NOS stuff (2 stages????!!!) it's like being on drugs....give me more...give me more!!

I'd have a hard time not getting too greedy and turning the wick all the way up!

Looks great John. I'm studying that air cleaner setup to. That looks cool!

How close are we to getting the rear installed? Looks like a 9 sec pass in the works!

Jim,

For a home made deal the filter turned out pretty good, my buddies call it "Franken filter"

My car will not be back at the track untill I get a cage, rear end, and new tranny. My car is "Marked" at the local track and I do not want to bust this ROD anymore (I need to sell it to help afford the Jeffco)

I know what you mean about turning up the wick with the nitrous. I don't think I will need to get that crazy to make 800 at the wheels (open exhaust) and that should put me in the deep 9's. It is a street car and I am not going to kill it trying to squeeze every last tenth out of it.

Sure would be neat to go to the track and put a few race cars on the trailer and then drive it home :chevy
