Default Wow! HP surges with rebuilt carb and new fuel pump

I got a new stock fuel pump on and got the Holley 750 double-pumper back from the rebuild shop. Evidently, the dumb previous owner had tried to rebuild the carb at one point and reassembled much of it backwards. ("Bodged" it as the British would say.)

Prior to the fixes, all I could pull on the G-Tech was 220hp (rear-wheel...on the street in second gear.)

After the fixes: 339rwhp (and that's not even in 3rd gear where I'd get more HP!)

By figuring the conversion of modern RWHP to Gross Rated Flywheel HP as GM would have used when the car was new:
339hp + 15% drivetrain loss = 399FW
399FW + 20% Net-to-gross standard translation (I got this 20% figure from SAE)= 498hp!!!
I'd say that beats the stock 435hp! :)

I can' t wait to get it back to the track and see if I can beat my 13.880 time.

Running with a bad running carb is like trying to run a sprint after taking down a jug of milk. Quite a difference, isn't it? :)

HP TV picked up a major amount of power going from a shoddy carb to a new one.

Yeah, there's just so much more power, makes the car so much more fun...but even more, the car idles beautifully now!

I did a lazy 0-60 run ...basically didn't want to spin tires in a populated area, so got the car rolling then punched it and got a 5.2! I think I can get the 0-60mph well under its previous record of 4.6...maybe 4.4 or 4.3?!?!

Z06s beware!
