Continuation of *scam*.... very funny!
Here's the latest e-mail from the scam artist on the prospectus of buying my '74 vette. This is actually getting humorous on what they came up with. I haven't made up my mind how to answer yet.
(E-mail)
Dear Barry,
Happy to tell you that we have concluded with our client and he has agreed to pay the exact amount and instructed to carry on with the transaction,he said that I should inform you that payment will get to you in a cashier check of $22,000.00 which is a refund payment of a cancelled order earlier made by my client.
Due to company policy this check has to be made out inthis amount to you
,because company policy only allows a refund payment on one cashier
check,so you are required to deduct cost of your (CAR) $15.500 when
payment gets to you and refund balance $6,500.00 to my customer via
western union money transfer for him to be able to offset shipping charges.
After payment has reached you and balance sent back to him,our agent will
come for the pick up and drive to a prepaid shipper to be shipped to my
customer, while title papers and other necessary documents will be sent by
you via fedex courier to my customer.
Please Confirm this and provide Name,Address and Phone number for check
payment to be delivered to you via fedex courier.
Thanks and God Bless.

Take off of a scam I have seen before. You cash the check at your bank thinking you got the money, then it bounces later since it is a fraud, they get your car and the $6,500 that you send and your account gets hit for $22,000.

I suggest you hop over to the C4 forum (C4 for sale) and check out the scam being reported there.

Very funny. Same old scam. I can't believe they can keep trying to perpetuate this scam.
Hmmm...call your state's Attorney General's office and see what they say to do.
Maybe you should give them a fake address to send it to. Have it sent to Wrigley Field or something like that.
or tell him to forget the $6500, to keep you out of his client's other business and to send whatever money someone else is owed to them directly.
or tell him that you'll need a separate check in the amount of $1000 as a fee for your time and effort to send out that other check.
might as well have fun with him at this point :D

You know, we are all laughing at this but I think these guys deserve some jail time for their scams. I know it's time consuming on your part, Barry, but I think it would be noble of you to somehow involve some legal authorities in this and maybe they could get caught. Start responding in what you would think was the typical way an idiot would actually fall for this stuff. I'd love to read a thread from you about how they caught the bastard that's doing this. I hate people that take advantage of others. Sadly, a lot of these scams work really well on the elderly and that breaks my heart to hear of those cases.

My suggestion: If you do get the authorties involved and send info to the scammers, do NOT give the scammer your regular address. Get a P.O. Box and give them that information. You also do not want to give them your phone number or listed name, as they will be able to FIND your home address from that information. You might just walk out one morning to find your vette has been stolen.
I would definitely contact the authorities and get their opinion on this matter . It would be nice to see people like this caught.

Scam a Scammer, have him call you on a 866 number that will charge him by the minute then have him send you $5000 to so you can collect $10000, which then gives him $2500 for his troubles. :jester

If I were you, I would waste as much of their time as possible.
Get them to mail you a check etc. Then mail them back 6k in monopoly money or something. :)

This could be related to the Nigerian scam but I doubt it. I would send the coordinates to the FBI in the USA and the RCMP in Canada. They are pretty good at tracking down this scum.

This is definitely the Nigerian scam just in a smaller amount. Be very careful if you try to play with these guys. They have palyed this game a lot longer than you have and have ways and means to screw you before you know it.
