Got hit with a *Buyer Scam* today...
Maybe some of you read some topics on this subject, but it appears to live and well. I was notified that this same individual made numerous offers to buy vettes today(besides my '74) at the same site. Here's the offer:

> nationwide and we get paid in commission, after payment has been
> confirmed by the seller to the buyer.

> So I write you on behalf of our client to contact you and arrange

> internet,we would like to know the conditions of the said vehicle and
> probably arrange for payment to get to you and shippment .We would
> also want you to forward recent pictures of the said vehicle ,bikes
> and trucks..
>
> At present I have a client interested in purchasing your item at $15.850
> so you are advised to get back to me for the
> item and we will arrange for the pick up of the car once payment is
> confirmed cleared by you, Please acknowledge the offer and we will

On the positive side? I got my new vette hat in today. Definitely first class... no patches.... all sewn graphics.... suade hat material.... and leather strap in the back. Nuttin cheapo! It's C-5, but the best thing I have seen yet.

Make sure you got that baby strapped on tight don't want to loose that on the interstate :D
Now to the scam, if these A holes spent as much time and energy doing something legitimate they could probably make a good living

I've heard of a couple of these scams. Is the Corvette all that popular overseas? And who is behind this, the russian mob?

Damn fine hat! Is it the fitted or adjustable type?
I also got in the 3.1HP racing starter from Summit for the '74 to see if I can't FINALLY get that one started up this weekend.

When I get those: I thank them for the offer and then ask them to send cash 1st. Then I tell them to F'off. Works everytime

I don't understand what they're trying to gain? Do they send you shipping and a downpayment, and take the car, then nothing else? I didn't see anything about you sending them money.... Please enlighten me so I don't get ripped off :)

77 - Never reply to such scam items. It only confirms your email addy is good so they will NEVER leave you alone.
How the scam works is they ask for your bank account number and info so they can supposedly wire the money to your account. Once they have the info they wipe you out and/or sell your info for identy theft.
Every one of the f@*&@#s need to be shot in the *****.

Re: Got hit with a *Buyer Scam* today... (blunsford)
That's a good lesson for us all blunsford. Never give out your bank wire # unless it is a family member or someone completely trustworthy. And if you sell something major like a C-3 to anyone you don't know ask for a certified check and have your bank confirm that the funds are good before ever letting it go. And if the buyer shows up in a '60 caddy with horns on the hood and a U-Haul trailer the vette is headed to Mexico or San Antonio,TX. :D

So, play there game.
Tell them to send you a money order or cashiers check and that no release will be issued until said funds are ABSOLUTELY clear.
If they refuse then tell them you are onto there game and tell them the nastiest language you can think of, stuff a sailor wouldn't say.
Also, the FBI may want what little info you have on them so far, just a thought.
