it's about 6:30 pm and starting to get interesting around Annapolis Md., but it won't be as bad as it was on the outter banks. Already have one tree down in the front yard. Glad I picked up a new chain for the saw.

My girlfriend in Hagerstown, MD just told me their power is getting a little shakey. Her dad had to take an alternate route home due to highway flooding. She got the rest of this week off from college (Washington College in Chestertown, across the bay). How much worse is it going to get before it gets better? I haven't been watching the weather/news.

Not to bad here in Maryland yet. Still have power (our neighborhood’s power lines are underground). Rain is blowing under my garage door making me give up on under car work.

It's not too bad here in the Piedmont ( Charlotte area) of North Carolina...it is raining..and the wind is picking up..but nothing too serious.

Here In the extreme Southeast corner of PA we have winds gusting to 40 to 50 MPH. Light rain and sleet. All seems OK and we hope the winds don't go too much higher or we could be in trouble. It's a little past & PM and we have a way to go. The folks 100 miles west of here will soon have this storm to deal with.

NJ Coast is doing fine... pretty crazy with the overall weather, wind, and surf but nothing scary. Matter of fact the road debris wasnt as bad as I had expected when I was out earlier. Hope everything holds well for all.

So far the storm here is much weaker than expected, and probobly a good thing due to the already water saturated ground. They're calling for 2" rain tonight, and another inch tomorrow.Still possible for my basement to become an indoor swimming pool if the sump pumps can't keep up. :yesnod:

We live at one of the highest points (1,300ft) in Allegheny County so flooding won't be an issue. We're just experiencing some of the first bands of rain...started about 5:30pm and again about 8pm. Wind is gusting about 20mph. By the time the brunt of the storm reaches here it'll probably be down graded to a "tropical" if it hasn't already.
They're predicting that by High School Fottball game time Friday(7:30pm) we should be done with the wind and rain.

IM in morgantown WV, just a bit of rain not much, parents near annapolis MD said many tress are down and huge waves on the bay. The hurricane is supposed to pass right over us in a day or so, like tomorrow evening i think. And this city floods almost weekly it seems so i can only imagine.

Well, Tuesday afternoon we left Avon, NC which is on the Outer Banks just north of Hatteras light house. Not a cloud in the sky when we left under mandatory evacs. Now back at home in Roanoke, VA. Rained all night but seems to be finished. I don't think the storm was as bad as it could have been. I still would like to be vacationing on the beach instead of here at home :cry Hope the roof is still on the beach house.

My parents and brother live in Emerald Isle, NC about 40 miles south of where the eye hit. They didn't even lose power!! I don't believe anything CNN says. I live in northeren VA and we lost power for about an hour.......while I was sleeping. Everybody in the media hyped this storm way too much. Did it do damage? Yes. Was it as bad as the media said? IMO, Hell no.
MEDIA
CNN

Much weaker than expected. Didn't even have to pick up roof shingles off the ground. Very thankful... :yesnod:

Was here for Fran... no comparison (Raleigh) but some folks were hit pretty hard... localized stuff. In my case, some damage to yard equipment from fallen branches.... several neighbors can't get out of their driveways- huge fallen tree's.... power went out several times for short durations. All in all, consider myself lucky because my house is buried in the woods.
Water dripping out the bottom of my power meter-set.... will have to cut the seal this weekend and take a look. Heard some "cracklin" in the box. Could cause a fire if not taken care of pronto.
Vettes are nice & dry in their new found garage. :)
