Thinking of putting my C3 up for sale
I really want a C5 Z06. I know you guys will think Im crazy. I have a 74 perfect condition. The interior shines as it was new. I have swapped out the stereo with one made to fit the benzel with a CD changer for the back. Under the hood sits a lot of time and money. a 350 bored .40 over with a stroker kit. AFR heads CNC ported and polished, Demon carb, lots of chrome. I have about 7K in the motor alone. it dynoed at 526HP 532 FPT. Im curious what it would go for........ your thoughts. Dont hammer me to hard guys.

A C5 Z06 and a C3 are too different animals. One is smooth and refined while the other is a brute and has "in your face" styling. I planned on ordering a MY '03 Z06 last year, but decided to invest the $$ in my BB C3 vert. Glad I did. :yesnod:
I had plenty of seat time on a '03 Z06, mighty fine ride. It's just too common of a car to have as my only Vette.

I don't think you're crazy. Even if a lot of C3ers are not turned on by the C5 styling, there is no arguing the significant overall performance advantage of the C5. I'm not talking straight-line only stuff... I'm talking about the overall package. There is nothing negative to say about the C5 as a superb performance/sports car, and the Z06 just ups the ante. And I'm not bashing C3s, either. I have one. :) It was at the top of its class when it was built. The C5 is right up there near the top of its class as well (P-cars are nicer, but ~$50k more for the same performance).
For what you could get out of your C3 though, you might want to consider keeping it and taking advantage of the incredible finance rates available on a new or slightly used C5 Z06. The C6 is just around the corner and with the economy like it is (at least as far as car sales go), you should be able to get a very good deal.
You have a very nice C3, and I'm not qualified to give an opinion on a clean, modded CORRECTLY (not a bunch of mis-matched hi-po parts), '74 would be worth.
How did the car run last night?
Good luck.

Is your car a vert?? I would keep it personally....It probably will not bring enough to justify the sale....Not dissing your car ..I have a 74 but they do not bring the big money simple as that.....Very hard to recoup what you put into them that is why I would never sell mine....Drive it and have fun

I'd have to follow WA 2 FST on this. Both cars are fun and special for different reasons. I'm lucky enough to "afford" both, and plan on upgradng my '69 next year with more goodies.

The C5 is a beautiful car and if I had the money I would probably buy one. I must admit I will never give up my no manners C3. Besides turning heads, I love scarring the S#$t out of old ladies, animals and whatever else is around when she ROARS to life. :auto:

vert= Convertible. I can see by your profile that it is a Coupe. I think he was trying to get at convertible are worth more and will increase in value better.
I, too, have a C3 and a C5. As everybody else has stated, they are two completely different animals. No reason to be ashamed to want both.
I have had my '75 for sometime now and wanted one since I was a teenager. I would not part with it for anything in the world. I also like the comforts and drivability of the C5. Don't want to part with it either, but it will go before the '75 will.
My advise is to keep the C3. You will regret it later if you sell it. Will probably never be able to get another one like it. If you wait a year, the C5's will be real cheap when the C6 come out. Start saving now and get one then. Keep both!

Yeah, me too..... soon as I get the electrical problems solved and a few other minor things I'm getting real tired of the these "joys of ownership". Been thinking of a nice little hot-rod custom. Of course the wife will have a MAJOR meltdown. But that's gotta be less aggravation than what I feel everytime I go out to the garage and see that thing sitting there - doing nothing.
