why is my V8 running as a V6?
My 72 vette is almost copleted but the 350 is only firing on 6 cylinders. the distibuter is sending all the way down to the spark plugs but still no fire on cylinder 8 and 6. We recently changed the intake manifold if that has anything to do with it. please help. im trying to get this project over with. :banghead:

yeah check the firing order and the spark plugs and the distributor. I know it sounds to easy, but I always try to make things more difficult than they are.

Hook an induction timing light up to each plug wire to see if they're firing. Pull the valve covers to make sure the rocker arms are moving. Do a compression check. Good luck. :)

I'm not sure what you mean by "no fire". Is it missing? How is your valve lash?
Whenever I come across something that seems impossible, I walk away for a day or two. I think about it (with the help of the Forum) and then I go back.
Do as the others have said. It's good advice. If the spark is getting down to the wires (you can use a timing light to verify this), and then to the plugs, you'll want to make sure your valve lash is right. Try resetting the lash with the covers off. It's messy, but it's a lot easier.
