Does anyone have a pre-'79 Assembly Manual?
I am changing my '79 to a non-a/c car and have purchased a blower motor box from a fellow forum member. My interchange manual doesn't show parts for a non-a/c '79. What I need to know is what is different on the inside of the car? I'm sure I can use the controller, but what box is inside the car under the dash? Thanks in advance....Mike

Just a comment, but I thought that the hole through the firewall was different sizes for the A/C and non-A/C cars (that the A/C had a quite a bit larger hole). But may be wrong. Any experts???

It's simply the small heater core box.

Paul, are you saying that I don't need to change anything other than the box in the engine bay? Thanks again...Mike

I just ordered a 73 assembly manual this week. Check back in a week or so and I may be able to send the docs.

Mike,
I was not doing a conversion as my 1979 was one of some 6,600 that came from the factory without A/C (air became standard in 1980). Those pics outline a heater core replacement from the firewall side; a one-hour job rather the 7-8 hours needed for cars with A/C. The core box is not in the engine bay but behind the firewall: inside the car. (I believe that relates to your original question.) That is why the nasty green stuff ruins carpets! My point is that the area (without A/C) essentially comprises three major components seen in the pics: the core box, the core itself and the blower motor cover seen below. In the absence of A/C parts that is about it. I am not sure if that answers your question??

Thanks for the IM. This link with give you a comparison between what you saw with my non-A/C pics and the complexities of an A/C heater core replacement. The pics will give you some idea of the various components and how they differ. Hope this helps! I'm afraid that I no longer own the 1979 so cannot take any more photos for you.

Great Paul!!! I appreciate all of your efforts. I guess I'll have to keep looking for the rest of the parts I need. Thanks again and have a great day..

i need anything that is going to be needed to swap the car over to non-a/c. I suppose I need the engine bay heater blower motor housing and the heater core housing for under the dash. Does anyone know if the air ducts will be different for the floor heat and the dash defog? Can I use the existing ducts?
