Default Evaporator Removal?

Is it physically possible to remove/replace an AC evap coil with headers installed?
If not, how much stuff do I have to remove to get it out?

Is that plate directly under it removeable? I've been meaning to take mine out too as the rest of the system is gone... and it's the part that leaked in the first place.

I can't speak to replacing, but I did remove mine, the entire AC system. Access through the fender grill helps a lot. There were 2 or 3 connections that wouldn't budge, so I cut them.

Planning on a Hot Rod Air unit this winter.

The setup changed a few times during the C-3 years. I replaced mine (as well as everything else) The plate under it dose come off. There are 2 bolts behind the rocker trim and 2 bolts that attach to the wheel well. I could reach up from there to take the hoses off but it was a big PITA. The cover has several screws that hold it together. Then it will drop out the bottom. Change the hoses and drier if you want it to work again. The pressure hose see's alot of heat and it is subjuct to leaks.
Good luck
