Brighter head lights, How to rewire
I was on another forum and picked up this site on how to rewire for brighter head lights. I will certainly have to check out my car and see if this is in fact trued.
I got this from Digital corvette http://www.madelectrical.com/electri...adlights.shtml

DAM it Norval, I looked at that and thought about it some 2+ years ago, and then figgered hell with it....and left the light harnesses alone.....
but I want to update that old Eckler's crap that's on the car now...the tray's with square lights....
another fellow...Wash Racer, I think, wanted to put LO PROFILE popups in the car, meaning stock lids that rose up maybe 2-3 inches, and had much smaller more modern bulbs....
which Idea I do love....BUT my lids were terminally damaged by a damn small Florida deer one night back in '98....I have the lids, minus hing mounts...
maybe I can rig up something better than that heavy crap mechanism....
OR forget the mechanical lift/door concept entirely, and do a Eckler's tray concept with much lower profile bulbs mounted much further forward...and give better dispersion....
MY only requirement is DOT, and GLASS lenses...for better durability....
Plastic crap that foggs over and turns brown, SUX.....

Let's keep 'em dim can't stand those BMW's with the bright lights I believe they are dim for a reason, so you don't blind someone coming in the other direction and he smashes into you :D
PS Interesting article though

30 amp 12V relays from the Zone, $4 ea.
I use these frequently in accessory/lighting mods on my vehicles and others. No failures to date yet.
Voltage drop is an issue with factory connections/wiring, new and old.

i have been using a relay to do this for years and i also wire the lights so both hi and lo beam are on at the same time when you click on on the hi beams.

Re: Brighter head lights, How to rewire (battsup)
just use the head light hi beam wire to trigger the relay with the power coming from the output of the alt to the low beam head light wire thru the relay contacts to have the low beams stay on with the hi beams. the relays are from the auto parts for use with fog or driving lights.

I would suggest you provide circuit protection before or after the relay.
There is a good reason this protection (a breaker) was put into the light circuit (at least on later models). .
