rear end used to skip out when hitting bumps but
now that i installed the rear 3/4 sway bar on it it doesnt do it anymore i took it to work today and hit every bump i could and its fine it used to shoot the back end out and sometimes get a little scary at times.Swapping to the 1 1/8 front and 3/4 rear really tightened this car up,handling is a ton better and it even rides better. Now i need to order my new vb&p rear spring and bilstien shocks.

Did your car have a factory rear sway bar ? My car doesn't have one - a modification I've been thinking about. (along with smart struts)

Sounds cool pat. Be carefull now. The car may feel so good now but be kinda unpredictable. You could push it to the limit without even knowing it, then go a bit to far and suddenly around she goes. I really wanna autocross mine sometime so I know how it feels when to the limit and beyond. Im afraid to push it too much on the street. The street is not a good place to find these things out in my opinion.

I have the VBP advanced street and slalom kit and am just as happy with it. It's similar to yours BTW. :D

Glad to hear your new sway bar is working well. Looks like you got a "right sized" rear sway bar. :D :D
To all those adding a rear sway bar - talk to the vendor, and tell them the intended use of the car, the type of front and rear suspension (existing spring rates and existing sway bar size) If the vendor is good, like Guldstrand or Vette Brakes, they will come up with a rear sway bar that is "right sized" for your car. You don't want to "super size" the rear sway bar - it will throw the oversteer / understeer characteristics all out of whack! In this case bigger isn't better!

What lb spring are you looking for? I have a brand new (20 miles) VBP 360 lb spring. Could save you some money. Email jpatrick@firststep.net

Good tires and the right suspension is a must for a large rear sway-bar! Ask me how I know. :D I have a solid link 7/8" Rancho rear sway and I can gaurantee that hard non sticky tires do not work well with it! The bar tries really hard to keep the car flat, but something has to give, and it is usually the rear tires. I can't tell you how many times I nearly did 360's by diving into a corner and trying to apply a little too much power. Wet weather, forget about it!
I finally took it off, and the car handles a lot more predictably. I'm going with another sway-bar, but it will be a stock size 5/8" bar maybe a 3/4", with some really sticky tires and a good spring.

Well, Pat, should have asked for more money on those bars eh??? :D :D
funny you mention that specific test I unfortunately have readily available to me in this neighborhood, around the block in one area there are a series of speed bump/rumble strips....4 of the near each corner on that block...and the effect is if you have maybe 20 mph of speed turning the corners, the car really reacts on the strips....small bumps to be irritating, but larger than just a rumble strip...maybe an inch high and 5 inches wide....
well anyway, with my bars on, I had to really watch the wheel as the rear wanted to come around really quick....I mean it really cut out...
now without the bars, it's not quite to devilish....same speeds....
and my comment is the roads around here are crappy anyway, so I fail to see the need for rumble strips/bumps...as it's a natural part of the roads anyway....

Dayum, Pat, that rear bar had a gold finish on it, so that must be worth more money....how about you send along another check??? :D :D
Gotta charge extra for the gold plating...NO???

Smokehouse - go with the 5/8" rear bar - much smoother and predictable.
