74 Convertible seat belts
I just got my seat belts, lap and shoulder back from ssnake-oyl and I am just not sure how the shoulder retractors should bolt in. There are some green plastic covers on the retractors that say Do not remove. should these face the drivers side or the pass. side? If anyone knows this I will be set. The other way would be should the bolt that attaches the retractors be in front of the retractor or at the back of it? Thanks, Wells

Craig is correct, the retractors mount forward of the bolt. This causes the green caps to face the left side of the car. The driver's side will require a hole cut in the carpet, just big enough for the cap to clear. The passenger side does not require any carpet cutting.

Wells,
How do the belts look and if you don't mind what do they charge to completely redo a seat belt system(lap & shoulder). It appears that this may be the only way to go with my '71 while I have the seats out being redone. And.... how long does it take?
Thanks

Re: 74 Convertible seat belts (bgrice)
bgrice, I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but I also have had Ssnake-Oyl do belt repair for me. To answer your question, there really is no flat rate, each job would most likely be different depending on what is needed to repair or replace. I would suggest contacting them (they are in Texas) and arrange to send your belts in for evaluation and an estimate. They are not cheap, but I am confident whatever they do to the seat belt system it will work as designed if it had to.
