Default Shift Kit?

I need to replace the Gasket on my tranny. So while I have it cracked open I'm going to replace the filter and add a shift kit.

It seems that I have several choices with a fairly wide range of prices.

B&M Shift Improver Kit $26.95
B&M Transpak $51.95
Transgo $68.95
Fairbanks $39.95

Is one better than the others or is it just price?

Is there anything else I should do while I have it open?

Also what's the best transmission fluid to use?

Thanks for any advise,
David

I highly recommend the TransGo Shift Reprogramming Kit. I have heard the B&M kits are junk.
I bought my kit from these guys http://www.bulkpart.com Great customer service.
Part #98462 $53.96

I've heard many people call Transgo the best (a little more involved installation I believe). Those same people usually call B&M junk. FWIW, I installed my B&M Shift Improver kit a little over two years ago ( http://users.erols.com/jerryp58/corvette/bnmkit.htm ), have had no problems (wood :smash: ), and have been very pleased with the performance.

 I had a TransGo installed in my '97 T-bird (don't ask why, long story) and it's great. I say go TransGo.
