vette alum. valve covers ?
I just picked up a set of the 7 fin alum corvette valve covers off of a mid 60 vette, which do not have any holes for the PVC or breather. I think I am going to mill down a spot on the covers and then drill a hole to correct the problem. My question is has anyone done this and if so do you have any pics so that i can make a decision on where to place the holes. I do not want to go through the corvette lettering so It os going to be somewhere close to the edges.

Re: vette alum. valve covers ? (Fevre)
I have a pair in my garage just like yours where someone had done just that. After I bought the car, I replaced them with a chrome pair of Chevrolet logo ones, that have a breather hole in each side(one pcv, one breather, both baffled). The hole for the pcv goes through the "o" on one side. The other cover was left stock. I don't have a digital camera so no pic's available. I can look more closely at it and describe it if you like.

The guys on "Two Guys Garage" did it really well on the weekend. They went and welded an alloy pipe on the front inside corner for breathers. After they welded (TIGed) on the pipes they drilled out the holes. I imagine you could do the same for your covers.
Who says it has to be on top? You could put it on the inside edge and then it would not ruin the cool appearance of those valve covers.
Good luck.

I am not totally sure on this but you might check the mounting holes before you get carried away. It seems to me that the mounting holes that attach the valve cover to the head are offset for C-2s and won't fit a C-3. I could be wrong but you might want to check before you get all kinds of carnival freak crazy with hacking, cutting and welding only to find the covers won't fit your car. I hope it works out for you, best of luck.

If you drill holes for the pcv valve and the air cleaner breather, you need
baffles inside the covers. Otherwise oil will be sucked into the carburetor.
Would recommend selling the covers and buying a set of the later aluminum
covers which have correct holes and baffles.

Thanks all for the input. It looks like it will be too much work to get them to work. sb69coupe thanks for the link the pics are great. I wish I could put it in the intake like the pics but then I have another problem. I change the intake manifold and it seals the oil tube forcing me to add oil through the valve covers. O'well maybe I will polish and hang them on the wall, the CORVETTE lettering looks way cool. Thanks all
