Default Maxjets anybody using them?

I am working on my 850DP and have heard that Holley jets are not very accurate. In the Jegs catalog they have Maxjets, are supposed to be much better and cost less than the Holley jets. Anybody using them?

I use them and have been very happy with them. The only problem is that you will need a full set or at least the range around your current jetting. Their design is much better for proper fuel flow and they wont get beat up as easily because they don't have a slot for a screwdriver. So overall I would say they are much better.

If you're going to mess with Holley's the best deal is to just buy that box of jets assortment from Holley. It will have all you will need and is MUCH cheaper than buying individual jet packs. They can often be found for $30-$40 and has a pair of everything from somewhere in the 60's to 100 jet sizes.

i drill my jets with numbered drills.
But, there are some gaps that Maxjets could fill.
Have not needed to order jets in about 10 years.

Matt

So I take it you don't buy into the 'do not drill them because it messes up the fuel atomization' theory I have read, think it was a Holley statement.

haven't heard that one!
usually they explain how the entry bevel changes flow. may very well be. My carbs have been off by HUGE amounts. Very easy to get within 2 or 3 percent of perfect. Once i try and get closer, atmospheric conditions play a bigger role. So while in theory they may be correct, in practice, a thunderstorm will make their perfect jet no longer correct anyway, so why bother?

Actually I think it may have been in a tuners book I have, I'll try to remember to check it when I get home.

Of course it's a little tough to jet "down" that way!

Luckily i have a bunch of old jets.
(small ones) so i rarely jet down.

When i do jet down i solder it up and drill.

Matt I have seen the box of jets from summit for about $29. Since I have 2 carbs I ended up buying 2 sets. With drilled jets you really don't know what you have. At least with the bought ones you can look on the side and know what you are running.
I have reamed jets in the past but have a complete set of small reamers in every thousand in the small size but never remember what I reamed it to after a time.
Buy the jets, solder is also soft and might change with errosion of gas flowing through it.

tip:
write the jet size on top of the carb.
i always know what
is in there, i put it in my notebook too.
Sorry, i don't have any soldered jets in use right now, as i said i jet up from my box of jets.
But for others, buy the box of max jets! Why should i care?

Sorry I can't find the chart online. Here are a few. What range do you need? I'm lazy, I don't want to type all day.

Holley MaxJet
68 MJ66
69 MJ67
69.25 MJ68
69.5 MJ69
68.75 MJ70
70 MJ71
71 MJ75
72 MJ76

The Holley decimal jets are just equivalents they don't exist.

Thanks for the reply, the numbers he has are 79 , 81, 84, 86. Those are the maxjet number, so if you could tell me how they relate to Holley that would be great. They look more impressive than the regular Holley style.

There is a place around Memphis called Powerhouse Products that is/was a Max-jet dealer, in the back of their catalog (as I remember) there was a comparison chart. ...redvetracr
