Real Motion car on eBay ???
He says it is, but does not mention anything about documentation
from Joel Rosen
Would you buy one without the documentation ? I wouldn't.

it looks correct, but I agree about Rosen's documentation. If they want 50K for the car, I'd expect the 1500 or so it costs for documentation wouldn't keep them from doing it.

Re: Real Motion car on eBay ??? (Jeff 6T9)
Given the certificate of authenticity being signed, what recourse does one have if the car turns out to be a clone? I would establish that prior to the sale. Would there be researchable records for the Motion cars?

Some of the supersize pics make for great screen saver shots. It would no doubt be a cool car to own but, if you did own it would you be able to enjoy it like we enjoy our cars? I know I wouldn't get nearly the seat time out of that car as I do mine.

Very  but I also dislike the headlight set up. It would have looked so much cooler if was done the way GrandsportC3 has his headlights

look like the real deal right down to the funky headlights. I like the rear window tho.
I wonder if it has the original carb - Holley 3-BBL that has geared linkage
(pretty rare these days)

If I remember correctly, Rosen will research your car for the sum of $1500 (I think that is the number). For a car so rare and expensive, I wouldn't buy it unless it was documented.

Re: Real Motion car on eBay ??? (Electron Blue '02)
The seller states that only 12 Phase III's were ever built, but to my knowledge, Joel Rosen has never made the build numbers public....I'm sure the '69 Phase III's were rated at 600HP....I don't see any Motion valve covers, steering wheel or the decal......
So in answer to your question....No I wouldn't buy any Motion car (or Yenko or COPO) without documentation.......
Not that I could afford it anyway.... a '69 PHase III Vette for sale a few months ago had a window sticker of $150,000.....
Interesting car though.......

For that kind of money I would want Mr. Rosen's documentation. My friend paid Joel 3 times. $1500.00 a pop. Two Cheveles and one Camaro. Only one was real. A very expensive lesson

You would think there would be a VIN# list somewhere of the 12 built

:iagree: There has to be something somewhere.

Email from guy listing the car on eBay:
hello - we are in the process of trying to get the car documented by mr
rosen. he is a difficult man to deal with and unfortunately
the elderly owner of this car had a run in with him a few years back so
theres some bad blood.
the owner does have a legal notarized affadavit signed by the second owner
and his attorney stating the car is a an authentic
baldwin motion phase III gt 427
thanks for your email
please feel free to call me if you have any further questions.
george
He then added:
hi..you're right most folks dont want to pay. the current owners brother,
who passed away, did send joel $1000 several years ago to document the car
(we have the receipts). joel sent him back a photo copy of some pictures
and part of a magazine article. not quite what the owner thought he was
getting.
thanks for your email

Re: Real Motion car on eBay ??? (My69)
God!!!! What a racket Mr. Roesen has made for himself, huh? $1500 a shot to verify whether or not a car was "done" by him?.....Because ONLY HE has the records and people are actually dumb enough to recognize his stuff as special???? Jeez, just think how much $$$ GM would make if they were the same way with the records of all of the Corvettes and other collectors cars they made. Of course at the time they were making 'em they really didn't know that they would be collectible, and I bet Mr. Roesen didn't either. In fact, I liken some of his work to some of the stereo and sunroof installation businesses that are around today. "Let's take a Corvette and see how much gaudy body mods and after market crap we can order from JC Whitney to stick on it and then try to sell it for a profit!!!"
No thanks for me!!! The Baldwin-Motion (BM for short) cars are the UGLIEST and overdone of any of the COPO "Dealers/Tuners" cars that were made during the 60's. :U
I wouldn't have paid a premium to own one of these cars then and I sure as hell wouldn't today.
The COPO cars like the Yenkos, Nickeys, Bergers etc. had their place for Chevelles and Camaros etc. because they enabled the customer (and Chevrolet) to sidestep GM's stupid 10lbs/HP rule which pretty much limited the engine sizes to under 400 cu in for anything but a land barge. The Corvette was an exempted from that rule, so why the need for a "Motion" version of it?
I'd just rather have a high horsepower big block 'Vette as Chevrolet intended it! Let Mr. Roesen earn his money elsewhere...maybe by adding sunroofs and stereo's to C5's or maybe ricers. :bs
