Almost put my car into the 9's!!!!!
I ran my car Friday at the track to get ready for a grudge race on Saturday. We had a 150hp tune in my NX Nitrous plate spraying out of the gate. It took a couple of passes to get the air pressuree right. But, on my last pass I managed a 1.43 '60ft and a 6.30 1/8 mile at 111mph.
I was slamming on the brakes in order to not get kicked out the track, but I still ended up running a 11.11 1/4 at 74mph!
I went back to the track on Saturday to grudge race the guy, but I wanted to make a test hit first. The car launched real hard and I slammed on the brakes after the 1/8 mile. I still broke out with a 11.18 at 71mph. The owner cam down from the tower and instructed me to leave, and that he never wanted to see that blue vette here again!
The Friday pass would've been a 9.80 at 139 if I would have stayed in it. I'm planning on grudge racing the guy again Friday at a different track. Hopefully I can get a 9 second time-slip.
I'm absolutely ecstatic about what my car did. Keep in mind that this is just an every-day driver. The car is super quiet when the exhaust is closed up, and I even run a stock hood and stock wheels.
I'll be sure to post what happens Friday when we race.

Nope, no cage. It's just a street car. I normally don't take it to the track, I just did it for a grudge race.
My car is 100% stock looking unless you pop the hood. All I had was a my factory seat belt, a helmet and a fire jacket. I even had my clear T-tops in!

Right on, kid! Your kinda' playing with fire runnin' that much engine and trans without a cage, tranny blanket and fire system, but hey, I was indistructible too when I was 19! We just had the NHRA sport drag (import) series here at Sears Point and a guy ran a 9.75 1/4 in a WRX he drove to the track! Very impressive... Keep up the good work and let us know how it goes.

1.43 60' time and your rear end stayed in one piece??? :skep: :skep:
With that kind of 60' time you should have had the wheels off the ground...

Yep... a 6.30 @ 111mph should easily put you in the 9s!! :D
Great job! Now you just need to get some real brakes...if you're really hammering on them after the 1/8mile, it shouldn't take you 660' to go from 111mph to 74mph. Just playing with you.

That is very impressive, I am also curious to know what you are doing to get those kind of 60" times.
My caluculations tell me that would have been a 9.89 at 138.75

Actually, the front whels stayed on the ground the whole time. That was probably due to my heavy stock rims and 235/60/15 front tires.
The car hooks very hard, and I even had 17lbs of air in my 26x10 ET Drags. The suspension is all stock.
Yeah, this guy Chickenbone is an awesome engine builder. He runs a ('78 I think) Camaro in the NMCA Nostalgia Pro Street. His pump gas 548 made 853hp with 23* heads. He has a plate on it right now and runs 8.30s at 3300lbs. Most of his builds are high hp pump gas motors.
We will be running at State Capital Dragway for Friday night for the grudge race. State Capital normally doesn't hook as good, but I'm gonna try it anyways. I'm gonna be launching on a 150 shot.

Man, I sure wish I had a Supr Stocker IRS rear-end for my vette. It's holding up great for right now, but it's gonna be a ride when it lets go.....
I know where one is right now, but I just can't afford it.

Re: Almost put my car into the 9's!!!!! (TeenagerWith74Vette)
Jay, do you have any pics of your car or the setup?
Why don't you just put a cage in it? I'm sure you could build one with a swinging bar in it for the door. Then you could have some more fun with it and not keep getting kicked out of tracks. I just hate seeing someone as young as you with such a hot car and you can't even take it to the track. I'm sure it's hard keeping your foot off the throttle on the streets.
