I'm wondering if you can get chrome ones like that for the entire front....and how it would look.

I have one on my car. I prefer it to a front plate though, unlike the statement in the Eckler's ad, it does not give the front grill a one piece look.

I saw one of those installed on a 79 in the big 50th ann. party in Nashville. I talked to the owner and it turned out he had changed the rubber bumbers to fiberclass ones, then he had opened a hole for the center grill, and he had mounted the piece so that it doesn't stick out too far. Looked good to me :yesnod:

there is no opening behind for a functional grille, and even if you cut the opening into the bumper all you would see is the giatn crash bumper behind :(

but wouldnt it let air go thru it anyway?
do they make a "real" center grill for a 79?
would a 73-74 fit?
if so,,,where would you get one?

There is a big piece of solid steel right behind the rubber bumper in the center section and behind that is the vacuum tank for the lights. To open that area up would require a complete redesign of the front end.

ok...that being said...wouldnt one of those types still look better than the fake kind that seems to stick out too far?
maybe with whats behind it painted black?
and again...if so...would a 73-74 "real" one fit a 79?
and...where can it be bought?
