Default Mufflers and Cable Linkage

Was looking under my 76 vette and notice two different types of mufflers
does this make a difference?? Also notice a broken cable located under the car directly below the driver seat by the rubber boot can some one help me with this, what does it do?? Sorry for all the technical terms here :lol:

Regarding the mufflers, you must have 2 mufflers of the same type if you want to have some "better" performance on your car. If you're planning on changing them include an H or X pipe to, this will balance the backpressure on your engine so that cylinders 1-3-5-7 run the same pressure as cylinders 2-4-6-8.

Regarding the cable you mention, there are two cables located in that area, 1 is the parking brake cable and the other is a body support "holding" cable. That one holds the body to the frame, it's located at the center of the car just below the rear of the passenger and driver's seat. It's a cable which makes a loop over a support on top of the drive shaft.
