Saw a very cool '69 today--Astrovette
Was at a car show today and a fellow had one of the three "astrovettes" that GM gave to the Apollo 12 astronauts. Beautiful car, 100% original big block, cool black and gold two-tone paint. Duntov Award winner. First corvette I've ever seen in person that I've also seen in a Corvette book!
Here's an article from Vette magazine about it I found: http://www.vetteweb.com/features/vet1101_astrovette/

I've seen the car you're talking about at several NCRS Regional events getting judged. Very neat piece of "Corvette" history-was also at the NCRS Nationals in Hershey where it got it's Top Awards. :yesnod:

I saw the car a couple of years ago at the Houston Corvette show, it was obivously a "Top Flight" award winner. It looked and smelled like a new car. Seeing that Riverside Gold, convinced me that I will return my car to its original color (Riverside Gold) someday.

:iagree: Could've been on a showroom floor. He also had a '65 there he had just finished restoring, and it too looked brand freaking new.

I just read the article. I am supprised that Chevy leased the cars to them (free lease). I always thought that they were gifts.
I wonder what the value is on thoes cars...
