I never thought dropping an oil pan would be so ridiculous. Does anyone out there get extremely frustrated with automotive engineers? I may be a huge idiot, but it looks to me that there is no way to drop the oil pan without lifting the engine, or dropping the front end. JUST FOR AN OIL PAN......

Actually, I believe you can get that sucker off by dropping the steering link at the idler arm assembly and blocking the engine up slightly, no big deal.

Look at your suspension from under the car. See that lone, single castle nut on the passenger's side? Take out the cotter pin and remove the nut. Use a pickle fork or similar--if necessary--to separate the joint there. there's enough flex in there so that the arms or linkages or whatever will drop down.

Ala-kazam and presto!

:iagree: with The Dude. Now I removed that castle nut and flipped it over to hammer out the tie rod end. This did ruin the castle nut and I recommend a sacrificial nut for this job. Also needed to pop the nut off the idler arm but it wasn’t nearly as stubborn. Removed my starter too. :seeya

You don't need to remove the link from the idler if you remove the frame bolts holding the idler assembly. It will come off the frame with the link.
