Default Oil pan drop - special tools needed?

Anybody have any tips on dropping the oil pan on a 79? Dou you need a puller? I had the "castle" shaped nut & cotter pin out of the power steering hydraulic cylinder but I could not get the stud out of the hole!
Thanks for any help. Andy

Should be a remove and replace job. Make sure to clean the surface of the block and oil pan real good. While you have it off I would change the rear seal on the crank. Have fun. Its a PIA job.

All I had to do on my 79 was to remove the idler arm from the frame, then I was able to push the steering out of the way. Once under there prepare to spend a lot of time scraping the old gasket away. I HIGLY recomend the one piece rubber gaskets. I used the stock gasket and it was a pain to put it in, and still doesn't seal all around.
