Chambered exhaust is on!
I installed chambered exhaust on the 72 this morning. Fit and finish was superb. I've never had exhaust work go so easy! They sound great. I think theres more bark than bite now! On the heat riser side I had to make a second trip to Napa to get a new gasket and longer studs than stock. With the stock length studs I could only get about half the nut on. The other side was fine. The only thing that was different was the doughnut seals on the new exhaust was about 3/16- 1/4 inch thicker.

 :hurray: Chambered on a BB. I love mine although they have mellowed a tad. Whose system did you buy?

A quick question for you guys with chambered exhaust:
What is it like inside the car noise wise. Right now my '69 has Hooker side mounts with rather quiet mufflers. I am going to move the exhaust back under the car. The chambered exhaust has me tempted, I am just worried about noise and harmonics inside the car. I drive the car every day and I don't want to spoil the fun with too much noise. Conversation is important you know. The car will still have headers (Doug Thorley short tube) and I will be wrapping the exhaust to help hold the heat down.
I realize that noise is very subjective, I am just asking for opinions and impressions.
Thanks,
SharkPilot :steering:

MN 72 454--welcome to the club. Ditch the stock manifolds and install some headers.
SharkPilot--the sound is good. Talking is not a problem. Sounds best with headers.

Headers are in it's future! What kind are you running? How do you like them? I've been asking questions about copper or aluminum gaskets. I don't want to be replacing the gaskets often. It has AC and doesn't look like much fun. Might be a winter project! I had to put exhaust on, the old system was rotten. I just finished painting the car a few weeks ago and we wanted to put a few miles on it before winter.

i dont know how much horse you guys are putting out, but my header back is WAY too loud at cruising speed.. it measured 130db at 3500 rpm right at the tips :smash:

Nice Looking C3 foundvettelifeisgood!!! What size rims and tires are you running? Any custom back spacing, if so what?

At a steady RPM such as highway speed there is very little noise at all. No problem with listening to the stereo or having a conversation. What noise there is occurs on acceleration and even then it is directed out the back of the car. No one has asked the question yet but I will answer it. Have I ever been stopped for excessive noise? No never.

MN--Check out this thread

They are Ceramic Coated Dynomax from Summit.
dtengle--They are off the shelf 17x8 w/4" backspacing. No issues--several guys here have these.

How does the Chambered exhaust look like on the inside? Is just the "bumps" that are in there?

I am not sure about the inside diameter. But on my 1967 it is 2" OD from the manifold to the chambers, the chambers are about 3" and the rear pipes are 2 1/2".
This is the manufacturer.
