OT I guess, but I really like those epoxy coatings for garage floors
If I could only find someone to do mine!!!
Looks like a lot of work!
Got a catalog from "Griots Garage" and the painted floor garages look sooooooo nice. Mine is concrete with lots of cracks and some corrosion and lots and lots of stains...... MJ

I put down the Rustoleum 2 part epoxy over a year ago and it is still holding up fine. As with any painting job, the prep is the hard part, no actually emptying out my garage was the hard part. Each gallon kit is about $50 from Home Depot and does a one car garage

I did my garage floor when I moved in two years ago. I agree, prep is the most important part. The other option that I have seen that looks pretty good to me and would be easy to fix if an "oops" happens is to put in the black and white square tiling. I'm not real happy with the epoxy as anything heavy and made out of metal has scratched and marred the floor. :flag

I used the Rustoleum 2 part epoxy on my floor. The only chip I have is where they dropped the one side of the lift (Mohwak) when they unloaded it. It cleans up great and looks good. I used the gray.
I used 2 gallons to cover a 24x32 floor.

I did the Thompson's floor treatment on a garage I used to own. The dirtly little secret is that if the floor gets wet, the water stays until it evaporates. Your untreated garage floor will soak up the water, but your treated floor will be slippery.
All in all, I'd do it again, but I'd like to try the epoxy.

my home depot wants $.85 a tile for the peel and stick armstrong industrial kind. I told them that i know people in the states that can get them for $.24 a tile and then she said well i dont know about that.(i dont actually know anybody in the states but that is the price that was posted by a c5 forum member who did his 2 car garage for like $300

there's a lot of pros and no cons about painting your floors, but a CRU (cemical resistant urathan) is the way to go, i'll send a post tomorrow from work about all the resurch.

Getting lazy, Jack? :p: Or are you trying to get a crew to come over and help you with your floor out of sympathy? (that's a pretty good tactic, actually). It is a day or two worth of work but wow, it is worth it. It looks so good and cleans up so easy. I've done a 2 car garage and a 30x40 shopand would do it again. Once you have a floor like it you wont settle for anything else.

I like the tile look, but I wonder how well they stay put. I was working a garage with the tile and a couple of them slipped under the car tires. I don't know if that was bad prep or if the glue on the peel and stick just isn't up to the job.

I've bought the Rustoleum epoxy and plan to put it down i a few weeks. My only concern is how well will it hold up to jack stands.

The paint holds up pretty well. Sure it gets scratches and the shine will dull after a lot of use but it doesn't chip or lift if properly prepared. You wont see big scratches and scuff marks from floor jacks or jack stands. It looks more like a dull sanding scratch rather than a groove. The stuff is really tough.

Definitely on my list of things to do next summer. I wonder what commerical grade floor coatings costs.
