Default Get a Good set of Ramps....or this could happen to you!!!

I got a pair of the Rhino Low Profile Ramps...CHEAP CRAP! When I tried to go up the ramps, the car was half-way up and the ramps slid...causing the Vette to "fall" off the ramps and the ramps slammed into the side....Just out of curiosity...how much do you think it should cost to fix this RIGHT. :banghead:  :mad

PLUS I have to show this Vette on Saturday....DAMN!!!

Oh man. I feel for ya, man!!!

That KINDA happened to me when my jack slipped, except I only lost a little paint and a rocker panel.

Maybe you can get something out of the ramp company?

Ouch, that hurts.

I have a set of Rhino Ramps and love them. But I only use them on the driveway, that way they don't slide. In the garage all of them slide, the steel high ramps and the Rhino Ramps, floor is too slick.

:iagree: I don't even try to drive up on the damn things anymore--I jack up the car with a floor jack, put the ramps in place, and lower the car onto them. Nice and stable, but kind of a PITA.

I dont quite understand... you drove halfway up the ramps and then they slid. Did they slide forward? or did they tip over sideways? I dont see how that happened, but sorry anyway. :( MJ

Sorry to hear about your loss. In the future tie about a 10 ft piece of rope to the bottom of the ramp. Enough to run over with the rear tires before you get to the ramp. This is a trick I learned from an "Old timer" years ago. It seemed like overkill then but now that I'm a little older it makes perfect sense!

ouch! ouch! ouch!
damn, that sucks!
my p.o.s. rhino ramps do the same thing. i thought they were cool as hell when i first got them and then the little rubber pads fell out and all i do is push them.
i like the rope trick described above but since i didn't think of that, i just started using a pair of rear rubber floor mats that came with the set i got for my work truck. it's a regular cab so i have no need for rear mats. i just put them down and then put the ramps on top of that and so far it's worked pretty well. well, only for the truck. the vette is so low i just push them with the front spoiler now.

Man, I'm sure your miffed.

Driving up ramps has always scared me a little. Especially the metal ones they made 20 year ago. I have not used ramps in a long time until I came up with the idea to make these, using 2 x 12 outdoor lumber. They're heavy and don't move an inch.

I use steel ramps and place a 2x6x8' in front of them - one end against the ramp, one end aginast the wall. Keeps them from movinng.

I like the rope idea. very clever.

If I am using them in the garage I do the same thing. I put the ramp on the drivers side facing toward the front and the passenger side facing toward the rear. This is done so the car cannot move and I can slide under the car easily on the creeper without running into the ramps constantly.

I built a pair of ramps out of 2x 10's. They've got about six or seven boards to drive up on. I place a 2x4 against the front of my garage to hold the ramps steady. It works really good :auto:

I've built a set similar to Len's 12 years ago and have never ever had a problem. Matter of fact, I use them on all 8 of my vehicles. :yesnod:

 I thought I was the only one who did this. I just don't like jack stands.

IMO Throw those away! I had that happen years ago with ramps and got rid of three sets I had. Use jack stands,Kwik-lifts,lifts- anything but those. That's almost as bad as working on a car with those cheap Chinese tools at the swap meets! :mad

That sucks.

I'm guessing 500-800 to have someone fix it.

I just read a tip for this prob somewhere too. They suggested putting rope under the ramps.
