Default Headlight adjustment

1976 L-82 4 speed. I have been trying to raise my headlights. Especially the dims. The adjustment screws on top are all the way in. Everything in the headlight area is tight with no slop. The adjusters look ok, just a little old. I am running P255/60R15 tires. Is this the best I can get with this tire height? What is the proper procedure for adjusting headlight height? Thank you

My mechanic got some adjustment using the trusty socket and hammer method... not for the faint of heart.

When I adjusted mine I had the same problem but found that I could loosen both adjusting screws and pull out on the lamp and reposition it on the adjustment posts to about where it needes to be and then re-tension the adjusting screws and then make the final adjustments. I did this a night so I could be sure to get the beams where I wanted them.

I can't tell you the proper procedure for adjustment, but perhaps your headlight doors are not coming up far enough and need adjustment?

:iagree: I agree with Big Fish. When I did mine the doors were not opening all the way. Check your door stop screw to see if it is out of ajustment. Then check your alignment screws
