Dash Lights On, Cluster Instruments Off, Vice Versa
Hi all. What do you all think about this: If I turn the headlights on, the cluster instruments go off (fuel to E, oil pressure to 0, ect). If I turn the headlight switch so that the headlights remain on but the dash lights are off, the cluster instruments come back. (Speedo and tach are not affected.) The cluster instruments work fine with all lights off. I removed the light switch (the button that removes the rod is on the bottom of the housing for those of you who have not done this) and everything looks good. I sandpapered down the contacts, but problem remains. Should I be looking at the cluster, or maybe replace the switch? Thanks for any help.

I'm not an electrician, ---- But it sounds to me like you've got a short in your lighting wire to the center console gauges. When the power goes to the bulbs, it shorts out on something --- could be the wires or your printed circuit board on the back of your gauges gone bad. I don't think it's the switch ! Good Luck Rick

Mine is doing that too, I only noticed recently since I rarely use my headlights up here (midnight sun and all..).
I installed a new printed circuit when I redid the interior this spring, so I'm curious about some troubleshooting tips you get....
I'm thinking poor/loose/corroded connection at the plug????
