Default Flare or not to flare that is the question.

Ok ,i bought a set of flares off ebay they were posted as 70-80's flares,i tried pre fitting them to the car this week and the backs will fit with some slight modifications(no big deal). The fronts ill have to modify alot more ,but with me working so much (7 days a week)im not sure if i want to get into it.So i m thinking of just selling them and getting my money back out of them.So would you tear into the car and know it might be laid up for a bit or leave it and just order the rims in 17x9.5 instead of 17x11 like i wanted to.Im so confused.

I'd stick with them Pat. Flares are great. However if you do decide you would rather part with them............

I vote for flares!!!!!!!!!!

90% of the pics I took of Vettes at Carlisle had flares. I love seeing a Vette made wider with meats underneath. C2 or C3, they need flares.

If I were in your shoes, the flares would be sold. Spend your valuable time and money on performance-related mods instead. Just my $0.02.

if I was you, i'd put the flares on in a heartbeat :yesnod:

I'm considering flares for my car, but I'm not sure how they'd look with the SA paint... but if I had a solid color car, it would be flares all the way

What about sticking wider tires on a car isn't performance related?

Pat- As long as you mold the flares into the body, which I'm sure you can, do it!

I would not put flares on my car but it boils down to a matter of personal taste. I saw some very nicely modified C3s and C2s at Carlisle. If you are so inclined why not just store the parts, keep driving and wait for the cold weather to come before beginning modifications?

I would only run flares if you have the right wheel and suspension combination.

I really like them on modified corvettes.

And if you deicde to sell them, please put me at the head of the line. I am currently looking for a set.

Good luck!

I know some folks would expect for me to weigh in on this one, but I'm just sittin' here grinnin' :D :D

Your car is perfect for it with the other mods you've done, "IF" you have the time to do it. If not now, then haul the flares up to the attic and wait until you do have time. :yesnod:

I'm ready to go with flares, I'm not ready to pay for the new paint job. Go for it.

I never cared too much for flares until I saw THIS car. My '71 should turn out so good...
