oil leak in interior on top of transmission housing?
I noticed a wet spot in the carpet of the passenger side the other day. Since it hadn't been out in the rain, I pulled up the carpeting to see what was causing this. I found something that I thought to be odd, and wonder if anybody might have any ideas.
The "hump" between the two seats, under which sits the transmission, was wet with what appeared to be oil, from beneath the emergency brake all the way forward to the firewall.
What could be the cause of this?
Thanks,
Matt

You don't have an aftermarket oil presure gauge installed do you?A friend of mine ruined the carpet in his Suburban when a line to his oil pressure gauge worked loose and blew off while driving down the highway.

check where your oil pressure sensor is screwed into the block and see if it is loose. while your checking that, make sure your oil filter is on tight. an '80 has a wire running from the oil pressure sensor to the oil pressure gauge.
