Default O.T. GAS PRICES - RANT!!!!!!!

What the heck is up with these gas prices?? I don't know if the whole nation is recieving the same effect, but here in washington, our prices are up to $1.98 for regular and $2.27 for Supreme. It has hiked up over 50 cents in 3 weeks now. I keep hearing different stories from different people, but Nothing from the news and no one complaining... "I feel like I am taking crazy pills!!!"

I want to BAN the use of gas for one day..

Tha price for 87 in the Hamilton/Toronto area is 80 to 90 cents per litre. :mad
Lets see approx 4 litres to the us gallon that's $3.20 - $3.60. gas went up 15 cents a gallon on the west coast and 15 cent a litre around here.

It is getting pretty expensive. Nothing is cheap anymore. No one is ever happy just making a buck-they want all of your money AND whatever else you can put on a credit card.

I know I don't endear myself when I point this out but it helps me! How much does a gallon of that bottled designer WATER(!!) cost? You see it everywhere so people are buying it despite the high price - and it is much easier to find and bottle than is gasoline. Get even - buy Exxon stock.

My idea of getting even was to buy a freaking gas station.

Its been talked about on the news everyday here. They blame it on:

1. shut down refineries during blackout.
2. busted pipeline in Arizona.
3. heavy travel this time of year.

We are only up to $1.56 for regular, but its still a jump compared to a month ago.

They should be paying 10 cents a gallon (or more) to the Dept. of Veterens Affairs. They're the ones over there fighting to protect the supply. Blackout problems my AZZ! :_dupe:

$2.25 for 87 octane regular here. I feel bad for commuters, but I bike to work (2.5 miles one way) so it doesn't affect me much. On the bright side, it should get the tourists off of my favorite roads!

Gas prices here in Toronto area were in the mid seventy cent range per liter, until just the other day. Then, listening to the 6am news on the radio one day....was told that "every" gas station in Southern Ontario had raised the price to 82.9 for regular gas. Every single gas station, many different brands, all exactly the same price! WTF!!! Sure enough, driving around that day, didn't matter what brand or location, exactly the same price!

But they say it isn't "price fixing".....amazing!! :mad

Yea I know and a gallon of beer costs $20. I have to buy gasoline though. This is all money that does not go into the rest of our economy thereby further slowing the recovery process down.

Good thing you don't live in an area that was affected by 2 gas pipeline failures resulting in price gouging and shortages. Many stations flat ran out!!

Your point is well taken and I understand. The obscure point I try to make is fuel is considered a necessity yet there are those who take every opportunity to block the exploration and production of oil and gas. Trust me - it does have an impact on the price we pay at the pump. Since the Oil Business feeds my family and keeps us in Vettes I know I am biased but I also get to see the costs associated with the business and all the hurdles placed in the way of development. It is not as simple as it may appear to make that gas available for the prices we most often pay. We are a lucky society to enjoy such cheap prices.

$1.69 a gallon for 87 octane here in northeastern PA. Three weeks ago it was $1.39

What gets me is the goverment regulates the price of milk, tobacco products, they should regulate fuel and prescription drugs. They give these oil and drug companies free rein to rob everyone.

The only way this is ever going to change is when you go to vote, if someone is currently in office vote them out.

PS
For all of the :bs this country is going through over in Iraq we should take their oil and lower the prices here in America and let those camel riding third worlder's fend for themselves.

I find it hard to believe the actual process Gas has to take to get to us is very expensive, After all, if you buy enough, you work out good deals, how about 27 cents a gallon for all forms of fuel for UPS. I don't even think USPS gets that same deal. Personally I would think Water would have to go through more of a process to get to us than gas. But then again, WATER!! it's practically freakin free, they throw it through a filter and vola, The reason a liter of naive I mean evian is so expensive is simply cause we are willing to pay that much, look at the genaric brands of filtered water, 99 cents or even less, tasts like to water to me.

I'm a 7 minute walk from my front door to my office door (3 min. drive) I guess that is how I afford to feed the vette all summer long (ya those 2 weeks of bad skating up here) and have my bottled water delivered. Just glad I don't have to commute whether it be car or transit anymore since I changed careers.
