Autometer speedo and cable help
Anybody have any idea where I can get a speedomter cable that will fit the back of an autometer guage and plug into my 4 speed? I've looked on the autometer site and they don't seem to sell anything. Nor does jegs or summitracing. I figured someone somewhere must sell a cable. I looked at advanced auto for a generic cable but all they had was replacement slip fit versions. Any help please.

68 corvette speedo cable I understand has the threaded (vs. snap on) end on the speedo - I bought my cable from an internet place in LA, just told them year make and model - cruise or no - and got it about 3 days later - perfect fit no worries.
I can probably hunt up that place if you need them, I dont remember their name off hand.

Re: Autometer speedo and cable help (fauxrs)
I saw that about the 68 cable in a previous post but everytime I look up that part number in the catalogs its the same as mine. Even autozone had it as the same part. If you could remember the place I would appreciate it.
P.S. Your website was a big help installing these.

Re: Autometer speedo and cable help (Van Steel)
I believe the manual states, "go down to your local speedometer shop and have them fabricate a cable for your particular installation"
Local speedometer shop?? :lolg:
BUT :bb I looked in my yellow pages, and sure as sh*$, some guy had a listing as a speedometer specialist. He actually only did it on weekends out of his garage, but you show up on saturday, there is 10 to 20 people there and he starts fabricating cables (street rods, race cars, 3 wheelers, you name it) He had 3-400 speedometers in his shop that he referred to as his retirement (I guess they are all rare or something) He is not listed now, but I will call the local perfomance shop as I bet they still have his info.
--marc
PS If I choose not to put my autometer guages in my stingray, I may be willing to trade/sell. But, that decision is at least a month off.
edit --oops I just realized you have a 4 speed, my 76 is auto.

Re: Autometer speedo and cable help (TTop Tony)
Tony,
I have a 68 with a fairly new cable - I am currently converting to the electronic autometer guages - so the cable is yours. I took the afternoon off and need to run out for a while... so I will send you an email later today. I am also having special mounts fabricated to install the 5" gauges - I will let you know how that works out.
Regards,
Dirk

Dude sold. Thats extremely nice of you. No rush on it just let me know.
I actually bought a used console with non working guages of ebay fairly cheap so I chopped that up to install the guages and left my stuff intact in a box.

Re: Autometer speedo and cable help (65LS6C4)
Actually 65LS6C4 I noticed that eckler has a cable for the 67 & 68 listed as a different part number then the 69 and aboves. I'll just give them a try. But thanks very much for the offer.
