Default Whats the best place to get a new replacement carb?

Hi guys!

I am curious... What is the best place with the best price to get a NEW direct replacement carb for my 73 L-82? How much do they coast? I have a tired 7043213 Quadrajet (no, I am going to keep it) that I choose not to rebuild again. All I keep finding are rebuilt ones. I will keep using my stock air cleaner and hood seal ring.

As always, Thanks!!!

Matt

Edelbrock has new replacement Q-jets. They are made from the original Rochester tooling. They are around $300 depending on where you order it from. There are some OEM GM carbs in the sysem still but I think they are mostly truck carbs. A new carb is the way to go. I have found that rebuilt over the counter carbs a not worth the price of the box they come in. JUNK..

What he said, except the Edelbrock 1901 now costs $440. I snapped mine up for around $300 when a parts store was running a 25% off sale. MJ

I put the Edelbrock 1901 on my car (72 L-48) and it has run perfect for over three years. Money well spent.

One other option to consider is to look in the Summit catalog in the carb section. Jet Performance rebuilds their core or yours to stock or to enhanced based upon your engine, tranny, rear gears etc. Think they $395 but they are really professionally built and carry a warranty.

agree with bluevetteman, swap meets ok if you know exactly what you are looking for, otherwise buyer beware

I found a HUGE difference in prices on those. One place was well over $500 and another was right at $300. I think Auto Zone can get them at a good price.. I really pays to shop around on the edelbrock carbs.

Try http://www.recarbco.com.

Their remanufactured (NOT "rebuilt") Q-Jets are very nice pieces. Even better, they will remanufacture your carb if you want to keep the numbers matching.
