I just installed the mallory unilite and have had great results! It was an easy installation with the distributor on the bench. I`ve heard the Ignitor is basically the same thing.
Do a search on "points Conversion" or "Pertronix" you`ll find alot of members have installed the Ignitor and you can read on their comments and opinions of the product.(That was the decideing factor for me choosing the Mallory)

I have had the original Ignitor in my car now for about 3 years. Probably about 4 thousand miles of driving. So far no problems and it starts like a champ everytime. I would do it again.

I've had one in my car for quite a while now, probably 3 years or better and it's never missed a beat. I did a product review on it right after I installed it and went into a lot of detail. Check this link. https://www.corvetteforum.com/review...=221&TopicID=2

I would do it again in a minute.

I put in the Pertonix kit. Just make sure you get the vertical slop out of your distibutor, its all in the instructions. Took about 20 minutes to install in the distributor and then 30 minutes to get it running right. Not bad for someone who has nether timed an engine before. Idles and runs nice and smooth. If I was doing it again I would pay the extra $30 for the Ignitor II system. It is designed for higher RPMs.

Yeah I had two Pertonix II modules and both failed and left me stranded more than once.....I hear the First version is okay but the second is a real piece of shiaat....I went out and bought a mallory dual point distributor with tach drive from summit for about $165 bucks and have had No problems

Tried the Pertonix route and got frustrated with not working, replacement failed - they got it back. I even rebuilt the dist. to make sure there was no slop.

Went to the MSD tach drive mag pickup distributor. Paid 329.00 in 1996 and has not missed a lick since then. Timing is on the money and has triggered an MSD 6al, Jacobs, and a Crane box. Well worth the money.

Thanks for the response on the Pertronix Electronic Ignition Module. Just did the install of the Pertronix module today. The install was fairly easy, took about an hour with timming the motor. I already had a Mallory coil so I did'nt need to get the Flamethrower coil. The vette runs extremly well, better than with the points and condenser set-up. I will have to modify the coil bracket and passenger side ingnition cover brackets though. The Pertronix changed the timming a bit and when setting the timming by turning the distributor the vacum advance gets in the way of the bracket for the ignition cover on the passenger side and the distributor hold down bolt gets in the way of the coil on the drivers side. Has anyone else ran into this problem?

:hurray:
