Low profile air filter
I have an edelbrock performer intake on my vette. What air filter can I get to go on this thing so the hood will close. I would like to find a K&N to go on it.

Re: Low profile air filter (RLaFarge)
I have a K&N drop base 3" x 14" air cleaner on a Holley 750 double pumper with an Edelbrock torquer intake and my hood just closes with 1/4" or so to spare.

Re: Low profile air filter (red76vette)
I got the K&N Drop Base 14x3. He said anything lower than a 7/8 inch would not fit because of the electric chake. So that is what I ordered. If it is the wrong thing someone let me know so I can correct it.

What the hell is a "chake"?:)
I've got a 14x3 w/a drop base Summit cleaner and a Performer intake. Fits great.

Re: Low profile air filter (RLaFarge)
On a 71 I had a few years ago, I ran the Performer RPM on a 383 with the standard small blaock hood with about 3/8" clearance. Had no problem with the Performer and the factory dual snorkel. For the RPM to work, I had to use the GM drop base air cleaner, which was available back then over the parts counter. You'll have to get a repro now. The GM one was about 1/2" lower than the afermarket ones available.

LOL A chake is what happens when you can't type, blind in one eye and can't see out of the other.
