Price for a 68 hardtop?
I've got a hardtop for my 68 'vert which will NEVER get used. This guy in town wants to buy it from me, which would be nice because it could pay for some stuff I need to fix on the vette. How much should I ask for it? Is there something different about 68 tops vs 69 and newer? I'm having trouble finding any for sale to compare to and to figure out how much to sell mine for.

Re: Price for a 68 hardtop? (stefrobrts)
Hi
As this is a very delicate and difficult question, I will still try to answer some of it.
68 Tops are a bit special as they do not have the aft chrome tips on both aft ends.
They also do not have the aft center post.
Ohterwise, they are fully compatible with all other vert years.
For the price, I just bought one ( a 69 ) for 600 Euro ( about 600 $ ) over here in Europe. This is a very good price for Europe as they seem to go for this in the States.
If the chrome trim, window and interios trim is OK or top, you could even ask more, but I think that 600 is a good price for both parties.
I followed E-bay for a while until I purchased myne and this are, what they go for.
Some Vette shops ask up to 1000 $, but nobody will pay this amount , I hope.
Good luck. Günther :seeya

It depends on the condition, if it is in good shape and if the rubber is good and the headliner is in good shape, then $700-$800 isn't out of the question. Especially since the guy won't have to pay to have it shipped or pay sales tax. If it needs work, and the weatherstriping is shot and the headliner is falling out then $400-$500 would be a good price.

Cool, it's in super nice shape, ready to slap on and go. Plus I know the guy isn't hurting for money. I'll start high and maybe get lucky. Perhaps I'll finally get that expensive wiper door actuator replaced

These hardtops can go for $1000 if they are in "like-new" condition. The problem is, it is very unlikely that a "like new" top will match your 35 year old car!! (What color is his car?) I bought a top that was in good but not great condition for $500 MJ
