I just had the carb adjusted to fix the ruff idle and other issues, but when im cruising in 3rd or 4th gear the car still feels like its surging some times. The idle and sound of the motor remain the same though(normal). Any ideas?

It may have something to do with the choke.....all of my carb issues have been choke related. Maybe some how the choke is opening up increase your engine speed. Carbs are my weak point.

My vette surges ahead in all 4 gears but I think it has something to do with my right foot. :smash:

Check your timing too. you may have too much timing coming in when the vacuum advance starts going to it's full advance. You could check to see if that is the problem by disconnecting and plugging the vacuum port to the advance and driving the car.

Disconnect the vacuum advance and plug the hose,take a test drive and see if the surging stops. If it does,you have too much vacuum advance. I used an advance limiter plate to limit the total vacuum advance to only 10 degrees,which cured the surging after I recurved my HEI.

Check for a vacuum leak. Mine surges at cruise speed when there was a vacuum leak from base gasket, the throttle shaft, and most recently from an uncapped port. The correct base gasket, bushings in the throttle shaft, and a cap fixed the problem.
