Default Classic Car Insurance?

I tried this in off-topic, not much response, so I'll try here. Has anyone had any experience with NATIONWIDE INSURANCE COMPANY. They will write a limited mileage policy based on the appaised value of my car dirt cheap. Makes me nervous, do they settle their claims fairly? Anyone use them?

I use a smaller company, I think they are more of a broker.

I have mine at $17,000 and 5000 miles per year and only pay around $275 - and that is living in Phoenix, a high car theft area.

When I get home I will find the name of the actual company I have the insurance with.

No experence with Nationwide. I use Hagerty for my three classics. Very good rates, agreed value, but of course there are some restrictions on use but not milage.

Using their on-line quote for a '75 Vette in IL with a value of $12,000 and no deductable, the annual rate is $129 per year :)

I have Nationwide for my house and DDs, but I use American Collectors for the Vette. It's like $80 a year, limited mileage, agreed value. Nationwide couldn't come anywhere close to that. I've also had several claims with Nationwide, and they've never given me any trouble.

I just got my 77 and initially went to Allstate, which is who we have insurance with on our other vehicles). It was going to be $398 per year with a $1000 deductible. I ended up with Hagerty at $103 per year with a $250 deductable.

Thankyou everyone for your replies. I guess this type of insurance is rather cheap compared to others. You have given me some great info on this, now I need to make a few phone calls.

It is alot cheaper, but there are alot of restrictions that you have to live with. If you can live with those, then it is great. :D

Did a lot of homework on this subject. Ended up with a company called AON Collector Car Insurance. No mile restrections, No deductables, No pictures needed. Have my 71 insured for a agreeded vale of $15,000 for $107.00 per year. There number is 877-765-7790. This is no fly-by night group. They are a fortune 500 company. So far I have not filed any claims, so I can`t comment on that feature. Hope this helps. :chevy

Not whether you you can live with it, it is whether they find out you are not. :yesnod:

INA has an awesome deal. No mileage limit!!! I found out about them on the hot rod power tour. I spoke with there reps at the vendors booth. They are advertised in just about all the hot rod/car craft/ super chavy magizines.

I use Hagerty and I'm very satisfied with them.. I had one claim after my '80 Duntov Turbo got damaged and they handled everything fast and to my full satisfaction!

Looks like Hagerty is the popular favorite here. I was impressed with their web site and looks like they have a great reputation. $149.00/year on $15,000.00 value with easy to live with restrictions looks like a good deal to me.
