69 t-tops 427 435hp,with many l88 parts , what's it worth???
The car has been in storage since 84 and only has 19,000 miles.
Here's the specs,
radio delete
no ac
manual steering
l88 hood
oil cooler
l88 badge on console
6400 redline tach
side pipe car, but missing pipes
J56 brakes
Heavy duty F41 suspension
Perfect black interior
The car is not running and the motor is not in the car. It is dissasembled. The motor is not the original, but it does have the correct date for 69 with a 435 hp option. The heads are rectangular port 435hp heads with correct date.
It is missing the tri-power set up but has a l88 intake and gm stamped l88 850 holley for 69
The paint is old and starting to crack but the body is in great shape. All the chrome is good.
It is an original 4 speed car and comes with a M-21.
The car was an L88 clone, well it was never determined if it was a clone or the real thing. Kinda sketchy. When the owner bought it had a 396 bored to 427 and had the correct aluminum heads, intake, carb, oil cooler and all the options. He sold the motor in the early 80's after he could not prove it was real. The previous owner was not sure if it was real or not either.
How much would this be worth as is????

It's a down project car market.
If you can get the thing together and running, even with bad paint, it will SIGNIFICANTLY increase the value.
The questions I would have would be:
1) Was it an original 427/435hp car? Things to look for would be a single fuel line (rather than a fuel return line) to the fuel tank. It's good that it has the high RPM tach. 4 Mounting holes near the front drivers headlight in the engine bay for the transistorized ignition box.
2)Is there any racing history that one can prove? Log books? Pictures?
3) Is the frame in good shape and is the fiberglass okay (any huge cracks/damage.)
I think for a T top project car without history or proof, $12,000 is way too much. I would think on Ebay, you're looking at closer to $7K-$8K...and $10K-$12K if you can get it running...if you can prove it's an original 427/435hp, you can eek some more $$$ out of it.
But I could be very wrong.
Too bad...I'd love to buy the engine from you...I have a 427/435hp car with the wrong big block in it. (Well, it's a very hot 454, but it would be nice to trade some 1/4mile ET performance for an original engine.)

Actually, do me a favor and make sure that the engine in your car isn't the original one from my car!
does the engine ID# end with with these numbers??? 711581?
Hey, it's worth a shot :)

Thanks for the replies, This is a car that I am looking to buy. What other things should I look for to know whether this is a real L71. The motor that comes with it is not the original like I said before, so I need specifics on any other details. I am kind of new to the vettes. I have a 68 camaro. But I have always loved the early C3, because my Dad had a 68 convertible back when I was a kid.
Thanks for you help
check out my camaro if you are interested at http://www.touringcamaro.com
