Anyone have the monospring front suspension?
I have money to spend. I want to get the mono front spring kit with the tubular control arms, so before I call Dan at Vansteel(they will get all of my suspension money) I'd like some feedback on ease of installation, happiness with the set up and how much weight savings I am looking at. I have a TRW 340 composite rear spring. Any input is appreciated. Thanks...Mike

When I bought my 82 I had never driven a vette before. I was very unhappy with how it handled. It was driven a total of six miles before I parked it and put the monoleaf in. It helped a bunch. Installation took some time but was not hard at all. Later I completed the package with new shocks, Steeroids, sway bar and bushings all around. I love the way it handles now.

I have the TRW rear spring and a VB&P glass spring in front and like it a bunch. One big plus is the adjustibilty. I retained the stock control arms, but the spring installation is a snap...

I love the tunabilty the best. I took me 10mins to adjust the ride height approx 3". It is easy to install, it is lighter than stock set up. Talk to Dan, he'll be able to give you all the details, Van Steel is the best! :steering:

I went with VBP's Performance Plus set up.
The install was straightforward and fun, except for one subborn bolt.
Ride height is easily adjusted.
Cornering is much improved.
Ride is harsh, even on the softest setting. I'd like the stock set up better driving Pittsburgh's brick side streets. On the track is where this set up shines. So if you're going to cruise around the hood, I'd recommend going with high end stock replacements. If you're going to drive it like you stole it around a track, you'll like it.

I have the VB&P setup - I love it. Admittedly, the ride is a bit harsher than stock. Tell the VB&P guys about the cars intended use and engine type before you buy - that way you will get the spring rate you need - not what you think you want.
It is a good product.

You guys with the front mono spring; How much (if any) ground clearance do you feel you gave up (not counting the amount you lowered the front)?

And if you want real fun once its in, set the spring to maximum rate (I believe its 700lbs!)... It will jar your teeth out of your head on rough roads, but you absolutely know where the front end is sitting from steering feedback :D

I had it on the second lowest setting for a while but it was too much. Now its on the lowest setting and my tender butt thanks me.
