Default K&N Extreme lid, what does yours look like?

I have noticed that my K&N extreme lid is getting darker, obviously from dirt but more in the center. The regular filter on the side looks like I just put it in. I think that the motor is only pulling air through the top now, is that normal, and ok?

I've been meaning to buy one of those  I think what you see should be normal. The carb is sucking air down the path of least resistance.

Does your car have asbestos on the underside of the hood?

:iagree: and shortest path which would be directly above the carb. I am waiting on someone to make a lower cost alt to the the K&N one, $50 seems high to me.

One thing for sure that is different with the K&N lid is you really hear the air sucking in, sounds like there is no air cleaner on at all!

yep, the top gets darker (dirtier) faster than the sides. I would clean the lid twice as frequently than the main filter.

The lids work great!
