Pitman Arm is killing me....
After reading through the archives related to installing a new Control Valve I felt ready to tackle the job. I bought the Pitman Arm Puller as suggested and it is of no use because the frame is just above the control valve leaving no room for this tool. So I decided to try the pickle fork and beat the living tar out of it - still no luck. Any of you vette gurus have a trick up their sleeve? The worse part of this is that I missed a local vette gathering trying to get this job done. What a bummer...

Just a guess, but I think he might mean to turn the wheel one way or the other until the control valve is in an area where you have room to fit the puller onto it.
Failing that, soak the crap out of it in penetrating oil and use a bigger hammer with your pickle fork :smash: . If that doesn't work you could try heating it with a propane torch first, just be sure you clean all the flamable grease and oil off of it first and keep a fire extinguisher very handy, then hit it again!

The pitman arm puller will work much better than the pickle fork. Just get the valve position so you can use the puller.

Just move the steering till the puller will fit. I have done this many times and the puuller works great. You may just have to move the steering wheel to get it in the right position to get the puller on. Good luck.
