HARD TO START WHEN WARMED UP. HELP!
Have a 79 L82, when it is cold, it turns over fine. When I drive it and warm it up, it is sluggish to start up after turning off the ignition and kind of drags like the battery is dead or something. I have heard of "heat soak" or something like that. Is that my problem and how do I correct it? Thanks.

If the problem just started you may just have a bad starter... But first thoroughly check ALL of the cable connections. If in doubt clean them.

To cure the heat soak on my 79, I wound up changing the solenoid coil. This fully stopped the heat soak. You can pickup a solenoid coil at any parts store.

Believe it or not, your timing can cause slow cranking on hot engines if not set to spec.

Check your battery connections and cables. Corroded cables or bad connections or ground will cause the same problem. Many starters get needlessly replaced when it's the wiring that is the problem.
