How do I wire this radio direct to the battery?
Any ideas? I have a CD/radio with wireless remote that I put behind the seats. Speakers are a big box. I am sure there are easy ways to connect these wires to the battery, but I can't think of any at the moment. I am using the battery because it is the closest power source. Any ideas before I head over to Radio Shack? :) MJ

What do you mean connect?? Solderless EYE terminals is what I would use.

Never tried it myself, but this may work:

Yes, an EYE terminal is similar to the terminal on the main battery cables. You will have to unscrew that bat bolts, slip the bolt through the terminal and put bolt back as it was.
EYE terminal RING terminal, same difference.

you can buy some sheet copper at places like Home Depot and make a connector. Shape it to act as a shim between the batt and the screw with a spade terminal sticking up.

Wouldn't you want to run it to the hot lead off the ignition? Why would ya want your radio sucking juice all the time?
BTW if you don’t smoke or have a G-Tech/radar detector you could use the wire for the cigarette lighter, I did.

Those thingies from Radio Shack worked great! My radio (head unit) is attached to my speaker box which is sitting behind the seats. I still have to take a test drive and see if the CD player works when the car is moving - I hope it doesn't skip from being bounced around too much. I had to decide whether to attach the connector upstream/downstream from my battery cuttoff switch. I opted for closer to the battery, so the radio does NOT get disconnected. You are right - I must always remember to turn the radio completely off to avoid a battery drain. Otherwise, the only reason I connected it directly to the battery was because it was the closest source of power. I didn't want to run another wire back from the dash area. I can unplug the wiring harness from the back of the radio/cd player and just lift the entire box out of the vette. I will post a pic later of this most-simple-stereo-install-ever!!! :) MJ
Each package had 2 of these yellow things, and 2 smaller blue ones, and 2 very small blue ones. (I used the medium sized blue ones)

Glad to hear it worked out. Someday I'd like to do something similar, but right now I can't imagine a radio in mine. I have no insulation or carpet, and the exhaust resonance prevents conversation under a shout; to hear tunes, I'd hafta crank it like a ricer :nono:
Would still like some pics, for when I eventually get that far.
