guage instead of clock
I'm trying to figure out a place to put my air/fuel guage. I haven't seen any A-pillar pods for a Corvette of my year. Are there any out there, or will another car work on a Vette. If not I'm thinking of putting it where the clock is. I took the clock out, but how did everyone else install the guage where the clock used to be, such as fastners? Any pictures?

 Be prepared to rebuild that whole gauge package once you disasemble to remove the clock. Lots of little plastic parts and paper/cardboard spacers came falling out of my '74 gauge unit. Also managed to bend a gauge needle in the process.
Now a '74 clock hole measures 1&31/32" dia.. And most gauges can be found in 2&1/16" for a good friction fit but may need a little enlargement by working it out with a piece of pipe. For added security a plastic tie wrap should do the job or even a metal hose clamp.
I posted the pillar pod question for several weeks but without luck. :(

The a/f gauge body just might fit as is. If it doesn't, use a file to open the gauge hole. You will have to do some fab work in the back panel to insert the a/f gauge and bolt it in.
If you're like me, once I had the gauge panel all apart, I just went ahead and installed all new gauges from Autometer.

Re: guage instead of clock (79corvette)
Will I have to cut the trim that goes around the guage to make it fit?
I have the very same gage in hand, I have the gage panel out for other work, and now you are all talking about switching to autometer gages.....
LA LA LA LA LA -- I CAN'T HEAR YOU -- MY STOCK GAGES ARE GOING BACK IN - LA LA LA LA LA !!!! :leaving:

Re: guage instead of clock (BSeery)
After only 20min I was able to remove the cluster from my car and the all the guages. I think I finally see how it is supposed to fit. It should be inserted from the front and pressed in. And the clear plastic covers for the other guages should be cut to fit around the new guage.
